CET 765: Leadership in Technological
Change
Completed: Spring 2007
Course Description:
The course is designed to develop an understanding of how to
create and support technological change through
a systems approach. Topics include sources of
resistance to change, tools for planning,
decision-making and change, creating and
supporting a culture for learning and change,
and managing and institutionalizing change
systems.
Projects Completed:
Cause and Effect Diagram:Educators are essentially researchers as well. Each time I teach a lesson, I have to evaluate the lesson and reflect on how it went. A cause and effect diagram is a useful way of problem solving and figuring which variables of a lesson may have contributed to its outcome.
Group Problem Solving Activity:It is always useful to know how to solve problems! As educators, we solve many problems a day! This assignment was a step-by-step process which allowed my group to solve an intricate problem. Being a successful problem solver is an asset to any educator, and being able to solve problems with others an invaluable skill.
Final Project: This was a comprehensive assignment in which technology is used as a tool to promote the safety, orderliness and discipline of our high school. Educational technologies can provide engaging activity, motivating students of all ages. Since engaged learners are less likely to act out, disciplinary events are likely to decrease. Emerging technologies will be considered for their possible use in maintaining a safe and orderly school. I am interested to see how technology will change the dynamics of high school safety in the years to come!
